Gas safety certificates
Landlords are required by law to provide their tenants with up-to-date gas safety certificates for any gas appliances in their property. A certificate confirms that the appliance is safe and that work done on it meets relevant safety standards. By law a landlord must have a gas safety inspection once a year to show that their appliances have been properly serviced and are safe. Our engineers are qualified to perform these checks and issue the certificates. When our engineer encounters an appliance that needs to be repaired or serviced to meet the safety standards, we will usually be able to do this for you during the same appointment, and for a reduced fee. The penalties for failure to have valid certificates can be severe. The landlord may be prosecuted, their insurance may be void, and if the failure to meet minimum safety standards was to result in the death of a tenant, the landlord may even be charged with their manslaughter. If you are a landlord and would like to know more about your legal responsibilities, or you would like to book a gas safety check with a Gas-Safe registered engineer, Gas-Experts can help you.
